of things I'd really like:
- the rocking chair that's currently at our Costco
- room for the rocking chair that's currently at our Costco
- $ to buy the rocking chair that's currently at our Costco
- flawless skin
- the ability to ignore people who piss me off
- to be photogenic
- carte blanche to shop for a (mostly) new wardrobe
- a real vacation
- time to play the piano
- a manicure & pedicure
Here's the agenda for my "day off:"
- vacuum (pretty much the whole house needs it, but we'll see what gets done)
- wash The Bug's comforter & curtains
- change sheets
- clean up that mess I keep accumulating on the kitchen counter
- book party room at Kohl Children's Museum for The Bug's birthday party (because Pump It Up is booked solid for MARCH already, ferchristsakescanyoubelieve it?)*
- hand wash The Bug's hand knit stocking cap (he says it itches, and I realized I haven't washed it at all, so maybe if I do he'll actually wear it)
- clean up and organize that mess in the guest room
- put together a box of clothes to donate
- e-mail photos of The Bug playing the piano to the fabulous guy who GAVE us the piano
- schedule some work stuff
*I know, I know, I swore I wouldn't be one of those people who does the stupid huge parties for little kids. It's not my dime and having it out of the house makes it so much easier. So sue me.
A by no means all-inclusive list of things I have to do in the next week. So my head doesn't explode.
- Wrap Hanamas gifts.
- Pick up license plates for my car.
- Exchange Thomas the Tank Engine train set (given to The Bug by his Nana last night, for the first night of Hanukkah) for non-character-branded train set. (She had no idea that Thomas was a big "brand," she just wanted to get him a train set.)
- Call painter to confirm that they'll be done by Wednesday night/Thursday morning, so we can move in on Friday.
- Call contractor to confirm that all last minute items will be complete by Wednesday night/Thursday morning.
- Go to alderman's office to get "no parking" signs for moving day.
- RSVP to wedding (Seth's best friend).
- Knit baby hat for friend's first grandchild.
- Pack up the whole fucking house.
- Arrange for utilities at the apartment to be shut off.
- Schedule phone/cable/ISP hookup for house.
- Do all the laundry.
- Plan for trip to upstate New York, leaving January 3rd. We're driving, so have to figure out a good place to stop for the night, where there's an inexpensive hotel/motel with suites, because we did such a good job sleep training The Bug that he won't sleep in the same room with us at all anymore. Oh, we could go in and go to sleep after he was already asleep, but if he woke up and saw us there he would not go back to sleep. At all. No way. Anyway, I want to get this done before we move because, well, I'll just feel better.
- Change of address w/ USPS.
- Double check that we've changed our address for all important items (insurance, credit cards, etc.).
- Go out and clean the house the day before we move.
Am I forgetting anything? God, I hope not, but I'm sure I am...
