he yelled, running across the yard.  "Here you go, Momma, this is for you!"
Grinning from ear to ear, he handed me the only flower that has come up in our yard this year.
If he wasn't so cute, I'd kill 'im.

We're supposed to be getting thunderstorms today, but so far, nothing.  Which means I was able to spend several hours this morning doing back-breaking yard work. 

See the bucket?  See how big it is?  It's over half full of crap that I took out of the yard.  Well, not the trowel, that's mine.  But those pliers?  They're a rusted mess, and they were half-buried under the grass. 

Also in the bucket:

• Rocks.  Rocks that are no longer lying in wait to destroy the lawn mower.
• Broken glass.  TONS of it.  What the hell was going on here before we bought the house, that there's so much broken glass in the yard?
• Nails and screws.
• Random pieces of plastic.
• More rocks.
• Several large pieces of metal - shelf brackets, maybe?  Again, WTF?
• A showerhead.  Yes, really.
  
• And more rocks.

Not in the bucket, but the highlight of the day's discoveries, was the dessicated carcass of a... squirrel, maybe?... that I found under one of the ugly bushes at the front of the house.  One of the bushes I'm planning to tear out.  No, there's no photo.  Ew.
